Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and First Taste of the Wild

  • Morning: Pick up from your hotel in Iringa or directly from Iringa bus station. Alternatively, a meeting point can be arranged in Iringa for those arriving by bus from Dar es Salaam or Mbeya. After a brief safari briefing, we embark on the scenic drive to Ruaha National Park.

Lunch: Picnic lunch at the park’s gate or a designated picnic site inside the park.

  • Afternoon: Begin your first game drive en route to the public campsite. This initial drive introduces you to Ruaha’s baobab-dotted landscape and its resident wildlife. Keep an eye out for elephants, impalas, and giraffes.
  • Evening: Arrive at the public campsite (e.g., Mdonya or similar). Our crew will have your dome tents set up. These are basic but sturdy tents, with sleeping mats provided. You will need your own sleeping bag or can rent one.

Dinner & Overnight: Enjoy a hearty, cooked dinner prepared by our safari cook. Listen to the sounds of the African night around a campfire before retiring to your tent.

Day 2: Full Day of Wilderness Exploration

  • Morning: Wake up early to the sounds of the bush. After a simple breakfast of coffee, tea, and biscuits, we head out for a full morning game drive. This is the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs as they are most active. We’ll explore the Great Ruaha River area, a key wildlife hotspot.
  • Lunch: Return to the campsite for a full cooked lunch and a chance to relax during the hot midday hours.
  • Afternoon:Venture out for another extensive game drive, exploring different areas of the park such as the Mwagusi Sand River. Ruaha is famous for its large herds of buffalo and is one of the best places in Tanzania to see the majestic sable and roan antelopes.
  • Evening: Return to the campsite as the sun sets. Share stories of the day’s sightings over a well-earned dinner.

  • Arrival: Expected arrival in Iringa around 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. You will be dropped off at a central location (bus station or hotel), perfect for connecting to your onward travel to Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, or beyond.
